Lithium-sulfur batteries have some other advantages besides being very high in energy density. On the one hand, its production cost is relatively low. Because lithium sulfur battery mainly uses sulfur and lithium as raw materials, the production cost is relatively low. Lithium-sulfur batteries, on the other hand, are less toxic after use and consume less energy for recycling.
However, lithium-sulfur batteries also face 3 major problems:
1. Lithium polysulfide compounds dissolve in electrolyte;
2. Sulfur, as a non-conductive material, has very poor electrical conductivity, which is not conducive to the high rate performance of batteries;
3. sulfur in the process of charging and discharging, the expansion and contraction of the volume is very large, may lead to battery damage.
